We are on countdown!!

Only 16 days til we leave home (for the boat) and begin our 'Big Adventure', as several friends have dubbed it! I am busy trying to get everything in place at home to be gone for 8 or 9 months. Our house sitters arrive Sept. 4. Jeff is on the boat working on more upgrades and preventive maintenance, and will be home by Sept. 1.
Several people have asked where we are going and what we are going to do. Here is the short version. We're going to float the boat down the East Coast and across to the Bahamas. We don't have a particular schedule, other than to be in Annapolis for the Sailboat Show and then in Florida for Thanksgiving with our family. Then over to the Bahamas. That's as scheduled as it is. We are excited about the trip and nervous as well, or at least I am. I sure hope Shelby and Savannah learn how to 'potty' on the boat quickly. We have worked on that, to no avail thus far. I did way to good of a job housebreaking them. This is an extension of their house and they can't 'go' there. But, I haven't talked to anyone yet that has dogs on the boat that says theirs didn't figure it out.
I will post to the log when there is something to tell you, and possibly, figure out how to post pictures as well. You know I am not the computer genius in the family.

I've tears of joy/sadness, (mostly sad tears) at your leaving and will pray for a safe journey. I will miss you guys very much. I think I'm sad because I think you won't want to come back!!!
Anyway, my friend said he knew some dogs who learned to back up to the edge of the boat and go potty. Maybe they will figure that one out!! Love you guys,

I guess you will have to take a piece of sod for the foredeck like you used to do at the marina on the first Salty Dog. The dogs liked that and seem to use it as I recall.

Bon Voyage. Good luck and stay in touch.
